Starting 28 February 2025, select countries—including Canada—will transition into PMI’s new membership model. This change combines your PMI and chapter membership into one at renewal, optimizing your experience and allowing you to access local and global PMI resources.

 

PMI with this transition expects to:

  • Grow Chapter Membership: By integrating memberships, we anticipate increased participation and growth within our chapter.
  • Consolidate the Member Experience and Enhance Value: This change will create a seamless experience and enhance the value of being a PMI member by fostering greater continuity between our chapter and PMI.
  • Provide a Global Pass: As part of the Multi Chapter Access Program, members will have access to all chapters globally who are participating in the program.
  • Expand Community Engagement Opportunities: With unified membership, members will have more opportunities to engage with the global PMI community (i.e., networking, events, professional development).
  • Support Chapters Financially and Operationally: The integration will strengthen the financial stability and operational efficiency within our chapter and others.
  • Fulfill the Community’s Longstanding Request: We have heard the community’s feedback, and this change addresses the desire for a combined membership model.

What is the vision behind PMI's new unified membership?

The new vision is to offer unified membership access for every PMI member. Each member selects a “home chapter” but gains access to all chapter services and programs worldwide. This initiative is designed to simplify and enhance the PMI membership experience.

What is the benefit to existing chapter members?

Existing members gain a simplified renewal process, continuous access to chapter benefits, and a consistent experience as chapter membership will be bundled automatically with their PMI membership.

What is the benefit to non-chapter members?

Non-members who join PMI will now automatically receive local chapter membership, giving them access to valuable local networking, professional development, and community resources without additional steps or fees.

What are the benefits of selecting a "home chapter"?

Selecting a home chapter offers members several benefits, including:

Voting Rights: Members can participate in the election process to vote for the board of directors in their home chapter.
Enhanced Connection: Members can focus their engagement with a specific chapter while still having access to global services and programs.

Can I be part of more than one(1) chapter?

Yes, members can join multiple chapters, both within their country and internationally, by purchasing additional chapter memberships at the standard rates.

Will there be a price change for PMI North Saskatchewan Chapter members?

Starting February 28, 2025, all new PMI members in Canada will see the new membership model price of $169 USD plus tax.

For Renewals:

Manual renewals after February 28 will show the new price of $169 USD plus tax.

Auto renewals will begin displaying the new price for members.

Transition Period:

Members who manually or auto-renew before February 28, 2025, will continue with the current (separate) membership and chapter pricing until their next renewal period.

 

How does the new membership simplify the process for organisations and institutions?

The new model simplifies membership for Enterprise organizations, Authorized Training Partners (ATPs), and Universities by eliminating additional fees for chapter membership benefits. Now, these institutions can provide members with comprehensive access without added costs.

How will PMI and chapters work together under this new model?

PMI and local chapters will collaborate closely to grow the community. PMI will focus on attracting new members, while chapters will retain and engage these members through various programs and activities. This will help strengthen local and global collaboration within the PMI network.

Will I still be able to participate in other chapters aside from my home chapter?

Yes! While members will have a designated home chapter with specific benefits (like voting rights), they will have access to services and programs across all PMI chapters worldwide, fostering a more interconnected membership experience.

The data reveals key insights into chapter and PMI membership trends:

87%: Chapter membership retention is significantly higher than PMI-only membership retention. This indicates that chapter engagement contributes to better member retention.
Less than half of PMI members are also chapter members: This highlights an opportunity to engage more PMI members in chapter activities to boost overall retention and participation.
