Operations Excellence Certificate Program
Description: The Operational Excellence Certificate Program gives participants a deep dive into a variety of process improvements, methods, techniques, and tools that are valuable regardless of industry and environment. Through four comprehensive programs, participants will investigate key issues within operations using improvement tools, principles, and analytical techniques. Information and insight will be provided to help participants improve processes by understanding sources of waste and root causes that contribute to operational inefficiencies.
Operations Excellence Program: Introduction to Lean and Six Sigma
Date: September 25-26, 2024

Description: Key areas of operational excellence are Lean and Six Sigma. Lean and Six Sigma are methods that provide organizations with tools to improve their business processes' capacity. By increasing performance and decreasing process variation, organizations can see defect reduction and improvements in areas such profits, employee morale, and quality of products or services. In this program, participants are introduced to and explore process improvement tools, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques that business professionals use to investigate key issues within the operations function. Understanding how the sources of waste produce operational inefficiencies and the root causes of wastes is the first step in operational excellence. Participants will learn how to apply the tools, methods, and techniques to the office processes where they can see the immediate benefit. Metrics are a key tool discussed to monitor throughput, quality, and productivity before and after implementation. Participants will learn about the power behind these metrics to
implement operational improvements and to maintain the gains created through process improvement projects. Lastly, participants will be able to take their learnings and apply them immediately to their own work processes.
Operations Excellence Program: Mapping Operational Processes
Date: December 5-6, 2023

Description: Process mapping focuses on business activities and deliverables. It identifies the resources responsible for each operation and relates process completion to relevant standards or benchmarks. Process mapping helps organizations evaluate operational success. In every organization, there are processes that need to be designed, implemented, measured, and improved regardless of industry and environment. In this program, participants will learn about how process mapping is a powerful tool for your organization and will practice mapping processes using relevant examples. Using Lean and Six Sigma tools and principles, participants will understand how process mapping can illustrate the current state and desired future state of an organization. This includes analyzing processes to find process issues, structural problems, poor controls, and people issues while using practical techniques and real-world processes. Getting to the root of the cause aids in quality and timeliness issues where participants can implement their learnings immediately to their own work processes. This program not only focuses on the skill set but the mindset. Process mapping will give participants the skills needed to enact real process improvement within their organization. This includes facilitating the mindset required for organizations to enable the buy-in needed
for maintaining process improvement gains. Participants will also learn effective strategies to select, organize, and facilitate efforts by overcoming barriers to process improvements.
Operations Excellence Program: Measuring and Improving Operational Processes
Date: February 5-6, 2025

Description: In order to demonstrate operational excellence, organizations must be able to measure process outcomes. Measuring and improving operations consists of developing, implementing, and analyzing a system that captures process information in real-time. Using the Six Sigma Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) framework, participants will learn how to define operational problems, assess defects, report metrics, and quantify waste. This provides the foundation for operational excellence.
Operations Excellence Program: Enabling a Culture of Operational Excellence

Description: Most process problems in organizations are identifiable and can be remedied with people-focused problem-solving approaches. Without formally managing the people side of change, employees may become frustrated and exhausted, and successes not realized which can inhibit the organization’s ability to create efficiencies and support change. Fundamentals of Project Management

Description: The Fundamentals of Project Management is a hands-on, workshop-based, interactive program. It includes small group exercises, large group discussions, and instructor facilitation. Participants will be able to practice what they learn on a case study project. This program utilizes many of the templates found in IPDI Project Management Template Library. After completion, participants will have free access to the Templates to use on their own projects.

Description: Transforming managers with little or no experience in accounting or financial management to develop a working knowledge of these critical business areas. This program builds confidence in reading and understanding financial information to aid in financial decisions by providing clear examples of the content, concepts, and terminology of financial systems. Labour Management Relations Certificate

Description: The Labour-Management Relations Certificate is an intensive 4-day program that would be beneficial for anyone working in a unionized environment. The program is specifically targeted toward those operating in key labour relations positions, including union leaders and officers, human resource managers and advisors, workplace consultants, and neutral government officials. The Labour-Management Relations Certificate program covers fundamentals of labour relations, collective bargaining, mediation and grievance arbitration, labour and employment law, and emerging workplace issues. It offers a rare opportunity for union leaders, managers, and neutrals to trade perspectives and share ideas with industrial relations experts. The program incorporates active learning through group discussions and includes a collective bargaining simulation.

Description: The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a 5-day highly interactive and experiential program that will teach you the proven leadership practices and skills you need to know to achieve your leadership potential. The people in your organization who are in leadership positions must know how to bring out the best in everyone. Effective leaders are trustworthy, confident, and encourage employees to grow, take risks, and excel in their positions. As leaders are needed at all levels of the organization, the optimal scenario is to have all your employees take on a leadership role. Grounded in five core behaviours that Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner identified as critical for effective leadership in their book The Leadership Challenge, participants learn how to Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart. Collective Bargaining Strategy

Description: This two-day program will provide participants with competencies in collaborative negotiations and joint problem-solving, leading to greater confidence to engage in collective bargaining that builds relationships and achieves the best possible results for all parties. Participants will learn strategies for conflict de-escalation, including managing bias and emotions, and practice applying these skills through several different collective bargaining simulations. Emphasis is placed on building trust through open communications and leveraging opportunities for joint problem-solving throughout the administration of the collective agreement to achieve mutually beneficial bargaining outcomes for both employers and unions.

Description: This one-day program benefits leaders and other individuals who want to enhance their interpersonal communication capabilities. It begins by equipping participants with key competencies to address common workplace issues. It emphasizes the practice of effective

Description: Marketing is all about creating and exchanging value. Success, from a marketing perspective, depends on an organization’s ability to create market value by designing and managing successful exchanges. Mastering Marketing Strategy is a two-day program plus a one-on-one session that will sharpen your marketing skills. This program introduces fundamental marketing concepts, frameworks, and tools that facilitate the development of successful marketing strategies and plans.
