Presentation Overview

Ruth Glatt, Projects & Planning Advisor will share her Top Tips to Implement Project Server in 4 months for under $20,000 with relatively little problems using 'Software as a Service' solution as Proof of Concept. Optimal scheduling and real-time reporting of cross-project activity using shared resources during a constrained work season was the problem Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) was trying to solve. Working in remote locations requires extensive planning around limited working seasons, winter roads and restricted access. Resource usage needs to be optimized and gaps identified. Lack of clarity on under-allocated and over-allocated resources (in terms of people, material, and equipment) was causing problems. Now we know who's doing what, when, and what they need to do it.

PMI Talent TriangleLearning Objective

Key takeaways: 1-Implementing as ‘Proof of Concept’ and ‘Software as a Service’ shortens the schedule. 2-Focus on the problems to solve first and leave other benefits for later phases.
