David Hantke:

David is a hardware designer with Calian Advanced Technologies and is seen as a rising star in the tech world, recognized as a creative problem solver and gifted communicator. He is a dedicated lifelong learner, constantly striving to improve himself through Toastmasters and studying German as a second language. He also stays active in the Saskatoon engineering community by volunteering with IEEE North Saskatchewan section as Chair of the Young Professionals Committee.

Homa Ghomi:

Homa is a dedicated and results-driven Project Manager, boasting a remarkable eleven-year tenure in project management, with a consistent track record of guiding projects from their initial stages through to successful closeouts. She adeptly assembles, manages, and supervises project teams while engaging in open and effective communication with stakeholders. Homa consistently earns praise from clients, who hail her as a visionary leader known for her adept communication skills that drive successful project outcomes.

Presentation Overview:

Part 1: This presentation aims to offer valuable insights and share the personal journey of a Project Manager who, with the objective of enhancing communication and leadership skills, joined Toastmasters. Throughout this session, we will delve into real-world examples of applying communication and leadership skills in the daily life of project management. Furthermore, we will explore how these skills can be honed and advanced through active participation and learning within a Toastmasters club.

Part 2: This presentation is designed to provide an overview of the essential skill of impromptu speaking as well as an introduction to Toastmasters as a valuable resource for developing communications skills. Delving into the significance of spontaneous communication in both personal and professional realms, this talk explores Toastmasters' unique approach to honing this skill.

This session covers key aspects such as understanding the importance of impromptu speaking, building confidence through a positive mindset, and embracing unexpected scenarios. With a focus on practical techniques, attendees will gain insights into Toastmasters' methodologies, including Table Topics, fostering clarity, structure, and creativity on the spot. This presentation aims to empower individuals with the tools and mindset needed to navigate and excel in impromptu speaking scenarios.

Presentation Learning Objective: Attendees will learn useful strategies for handling impromptu speaking situations and gain practical experience by participating in a Toastmasters Table Topics impromptu speaking exercise.
