Edwards Executive Education (U of S): Fundamentals of Project Management Course

University of Saskatchewan's Edwards Executive Education, a proud Silver Sponsor of our chapter is organising a 3-day hands-on, workshop-based, interactive course on the Fundamentals of Project Management in-person, in Saskatoon.

 

Program Overview

The course will include small group exercises, large group discussions, and instructor facilitation. Participants will be able to practice what they learn on a case study project.
This program utilizes many of the templates found in IPDI Project Management Template Library. After completion, participants will have free access to the Templates to use on their own projects.
The Fundamentals of Project Management program has been successfully taught for over 20 years to thousands of individuals in hundreds of companies from a wide range of industries. IPDI’s extensive knowledge of project management best practices and our ability to apply them to companies, including yours, has ensured that our program is in high-demand, and our instructors are at the top of the field. 

Program Highlights:

  • Understand the two main approaches to projects: Predictive and Agile as well as the Hybrid approach
  • Develop a Scope Statement for the project to depict what is in scope and what is not
  • Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) / Sprint backlog to establish effective resource and duration estimates
  • Develop duration estimates using various techniques
  • Understand the application of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling
  • Understand the usage of a Task Board / Kanban on certain types of projects
  • Establish effective adjustments, including risk responses, to the preliminary schedule
  • Accurately update the schedule based on work performance
  • Evaluate the schedule and budget variances and how to resolve the them.
