Speaker Biography:

Richard, is a seasoned professional with over 40 years of experience across a variety of industries, including agriculture, finance, retail, health care, manufacturing, and construction. His diverse background includes roles as a tradesperson, master electrician, business owner, and project, program, and portfolio manager, with a significant focus on healthcare construction and process improvement over the past two decades. Passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing new curriculum at technical institutesRichard also serves as an adjunct instructor for the International Project Management program at a technical institute and currently manages the SAIT Facilities Management Projects Team, where he continues to inspire the next generation of professionals. Inspired to share and develop others in their managerial skills, he is the founder and developer of a new program called Project Management As Service Plus (PMAS+).

Presentation Title:  Unlocking Success: The Essential Role of Soft Skills in Project Management

Presentation Overview:

This presentation aims to enlighten attendees on the significance of soft skills in project management and how these skills can be cultivated and utilized effectively. We will define soft skills and highlight their distinctions from hard skills, while also exploring their crucial role in fostering effective leadership, team unity, and organizational success.  

Key soft skills that have been identified as major contributors to challenges faced by project managers and their teams will be thoroughly discussed. Additionally, the presentation will cover the importance of adaptability in response to new challenges and environmental changes. We will also emphasize the value of collaboration and the benefits of embracing inclusive and diverse cultures within teams. 

Ultimately, the presentation will reinforce that blending soft skills with technical expertise creates well-rounded leaders capable of driving project success.

By the end of the presentation, participants should feel empowered to leverage soft skills effectively and understand their significance in becoming more successful and influential managers and leaders in the realm of project management.
