2018 Study Group

The objective of the PMI North Saskatchewan Chapter’s study group is to support project management professionals, who are preparing to write the PMP® or CAPM® certification exam.

Program Benefits

  • Learn from chapter members who will provide mentorship and support by sharing their PMBOK® knowledge and industry expertise;
  • Learn from recent exam writers on their experiences preparing for the exam;
  • Meet like-minded people who are preparing to write the same exam.

Program Outline

The study group is an excellent forum to review the terms and concepts, discuss and clarify issues which may not be easy to understand, and relate to project management practices in different organizations.

  • Review exam qualification requirements.

Group Sessions (3 hours per session)

  • A mentor will provide overview presentations for the first three chapters of the PMBOK® – Fifth Edition to relay the foundation and basics, and provide tips and tricks for the exam prep and highlight key learning areas;
  • A recent exam writer will share their experiences preparing for the exam;
  • The group will share their resources and studying philosophy; and
  • At the end of the three group sessions, participants will be encouraged to form their own study groups or pair up with a study accountability partner.

Become a Study Group Mentor

The chapter could not offer a study group without volunteers. Study group mentors volunteer their time and are an integral part of the study group’s success. If you are PMP certified chapter member, consider giving back to your project management community by becoming a study group mentor. Mentors can choose the knowledge area(s) they have the most experience working within.

The time commitment required to serve as a study group mentor is minimal; up to 4 hours on the evening of the study group if you include travel time and up to approximately 3 hours of time to review the PMBOK for that knowledge area. Apply on the PMI Volunteer Registration System or directly.
